South Africa’s rock art constitutes one of the country’s great treasures. Its creators are long gone, but artist Stephen Townley Basset has dedicated the last 18 years to deciphering their techniques to create perfect reproductions. His work is currently on show at the University of Witwatersrand’s Origins Centre.
