Brand SA = You!

South Africa won the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Okay, so it wasn’t Bafana Bafana hoisting the golden trophy above its heads after the final whistle blew on July 11. Brilliant hosts that we are, we let someone else have that privilege. And it was as hosts that virtually every commentator in every corner of the world scored South Africa the big winner.

Once again, South Africans have proven what they are made of. The challenge is to keep the fly-the-flag energy of 2010 alive and convert it to other uses. We also have to keep reminding the world that just as what happened in 1994 was no fluke, so the triumph of 2010 did not result from a happy confluence of the planets, either,  but from you.
