Port Elizabeth has a small, windy township called iBhayi,  which has  a section called eZwide. From a single visit you wouldn’t anticipate anything progressive to be happening right under your nose. Except the Informal Street Markets that iBhayi  is popular for. But then, in my search of South Africans change agents, I ran into Nic Haralambous and Malizole “Banks” Gwaxula, who both stand for less talk and more positive change in their own right.

Nic is the editor, owner and founder of SA Rocks, a blog that promotes South Africa and led to this post. He wrote about the Ubuntu Education Fund, an organisation that provides support to HIV infected and affected youths in Zwide. Now with offices in New York, London and Zwide, Ubuntu is changing lives in amazing ways..

“We measure success in realistic terms” says Jordan Levy President and Co-Founder of Ubuntu. The organisation takes disadvantaged young people to some of the country’s top private schools — St Andrews, DSG and some of our highly reputable universities UCT and Rhodes University.

Thanks to Nic for the post. Read the whole article here.
