Inspired

jozilightningMention South Africa and iconic images like Table Mountain, Fynbos, the flag, and a Jozi thunderstorm comes to mind, not to mention the Big 5, braaivleis and boerewors, our beaches and of course the Springboks (both on and off the field).

But for a country “Alive with Possibility” there is much more, then meets the tourist eye. Turning a blind eye to the obvious I went in search of the possibilities….

At the Coca Cola dome I witnessed history in the making, when local band The Parlotones rocketed to uber stardom, becoming South Africa’s first superband. The alternative sound of this Indie rock band, together with Kahn Morbee’s melodic voice and sobering soulful tunes, had the crowd begging for more.

Next up was a lunch with comedian Kedibone Mulaudzi who with his fresh perspective and unique way of celebrating our cultural diversity, by allowing us to poke fun at ourselves, had me chortle and chuckle, and hug the Zulu on my stoep.

A few weeks later and the beautiful songbird Miss Lira had me captivated, with her vocal seduction. This Afro-Jazz diva proofs that dynamite comes in small packages.

Over the weekend the kids and I had a fabulous-fun time at the stage production of the Janice Honeyman’s pantomime Pinnochio. Veteran actor like Tobie Cronje and actress Fiona Coyne delighted audiences both young and old, with playful antics for the kids and adult humour, for the young at heart.

And this weekend we are off to Montecasino to see Cinderella on Ice….

The next time you are in need of a little inpiration or stimulating entertainment, why not turn to the stage?

I challenge you to take a fresh look at our amazing Mzanzi. Go on a journey, find the possibilities and who knows you might just like Kahn Morbee – “.. be thinking of a time I felt inspired.”

I think you write so colourfully, I can see, smell and taste your experiences as they come to life through your way of expression. All the best chicken!
